The season has a name now: Season 87, Minion Academy, and the September TV Royale reel maps onto it. Two new cards lead it: Minion Giant, a brand-new flying win condition releasing September 5 with the season, and Hero Ice Wizard, this season's Pass hero. Around them runs a wave of events through late September and early October: Royale Shuffle spins a wheel to pick your game mode, 2v2 gets a ranked Competitive League, Princess Gambit returns as a global tournament, and the season's own Minion Academy album event pays out Minion Giant cards, with 1,000 copies as the grand prize. Here is everything announced, with pre-release details marked as such until they are confirmed live in-game.
Hero Ice Wizard is this season's Pass hero: a choice in the first milestone of Premium Pass Royale, or 200 Hero Coins from the claim pool at release. His ability is Frosty Fella, costing 2 Elixir: his next attack spawns a Snowman that freezes nearby enemies, and the freeze only lets go when the Snowman is destroyed, so ignoring it is not an option. Base stats match the normal Ice Wizard and the card is Legendary. Pre-release details, subject to change before launch: the Snowman spawns just behind the target, lives around 7 seconds on modest hitpoints, and small spells such as The Log destroy it instantly, so keeping it alive is the skill test. Minion Giant is a brand-new Rare card releasing September 5 with Season 87: a 4-elixir flying win condition that attacks at range, heads straight for buildings, and cannot be knocked back by any spell. That combination (flying, building-targeting, knockback-immune) is a first for the game. Pre-release stats, subject to change before launch: hitpoints in the Balloon class and well under half a Lava Hound, medium speed, and tower damage per second comparable to Flying Machine on a far tankier body; left unanswered it takes roughly 40 percent of a Princess Tower. It arrives through a release event, and copies can be earned through the Minion Academy album event below before it joins Trophy Road at Arena 5.
Royale Shuffle
Royale Shuffle is a limited-time mode where a wheel decides which game mode you play, and you play it with a pre-made deck: you do not bring your own. The mode runs September 21 to October 5, with a separate Royale Shuffle Challenge in the final week, September 28 to October 5. Event badges were shown in the broadcast; how they are earned has not been confirmed yet.
For this season, 2v2 gets a ranked Competitive League, running for two weeks. Finish in the top 10,000 or complete the trial and you earn exclusive badges. If you are climbing, the live rankings below show what is winning in 2v2 right now.
Princess Gambit
Princess Gambit returns as a global tournament where every player builds from the same limited card pool, running September 21 to 26. Finishing high earns an exclusive emote, with badge upgrades along the way.
The Minion Academy album is Season 87's own theme event: collect snippets as you play, fill the album, and unlock rewards along the way, with the grand prize confirmed as 1,000 Minion Giant cards. If you want a deep stack of the new card, this is the path.
