Clash Royale Evolution Tier List — July 2026 Mid-Season

By the RoyaleTracker Team@RoyaleTrackerGGUpdated July 15, 2026

Every card below is ranked by real win rate pulled from millions of ladder battles, not opinion. The two most popular evolutions in the game right now are both underperforming, and this list shows exactly why.

TL;DR

Goblin Cage, Mortar, Baby Dragon, Royal Ghost, and Battle Ram Evolution are the top-performing evolutions right now, all sitting at S-tier with win rates 3+ points above the 41-evolution average. Mega Knight Evolution and Valkyrie Evolution are the two most-used evolutions in the game but both currently sit in D and C tier, proof that popularity and power are not the same thing.

How This Tier List Works

Every card here needs a minimum usage rate to qualify. Evolutions played too rarely to generate a reliable win rate sample are excluded rather than ranked on noise. Of the 41 tracked evolutions, all cleared that bar this patch.

Tiers are set relative to the evolution category average, currently 50.41% win rate, not fixed numbers. Evolutions naturally win more than normal cards as a category, so a flat “anything above 55% is S-tier” rule would rank almost nothing. Instead, each tier is a band around that average:

S · +2 or more
A · +0.5 to +2
B · within ±0.5
C · -0.5 to -2
D · -2 or more

We also track Clean Win Rate (CWR), a card's win rate specifically against decks that don't run that same card. It strips out any inflation from mirror matchups. This patch, CWR tracks within a point of regular win rate across almost every evolution, so it's shown as a reference stat rather than a separate ranking signal.

The five strongest evolutions this patch all sit within a point of each other, and all five are rising. Goblin Cage Evolution and Mortar Evolution lead at 54% win rate, with Mortar posting the highest CWR in the entire category at 55%.

Baby Dragon Evolution stands out for combining a top-tier win rate with meaningfully rising usage, which usually signals a card climbing the meta rather than one that's peaked. Royal Ghost Evolution and Battle Ram Evolution are winning at the same rate while actually losing popularity, which is often the more interesting signal. A card winning more while fewer people play it tends to be under the radar rather than overhyped.

A-tier is the deepest tier this patch, with 17 evolutions between 51% and 52% win rate. Skeleton Barrel Evolution leads the pack at the highest usage in the tier by a wide margin, 9%, while still posting a strong win rate, a combination that usually means a genuinely healthy, well-rounded card rather than a narrow tech pick.

B tier sits right at the category average, essentially coin-flip evolutions. Goblin Barrel Evolution is worth a specific mention here since it's the highest-usage card in the tier at 7%, meaning a lot of Log Bait players are running an evolution that's performing exactly average right now, not the boost it might feel like.

This is where the tier list earns its keep. Valkyrie Evolution has the second-highest usage rate of any evolution in the game at 11%, just behind Mega Knight Evolution, but it's currently sitting at C tier with a 49% win rate and a CWR one full point lower at 48%. It's a popular pick that isn't winning at a popular-pick rate.

Mega Knight Evolution tells the same story, worse. At 12% usage, the single most-played evolution in Clash Royale, it's sitting in D tier at 47% win rate, both falling. If your Mega Knight Evolution deck feels like it's underperforming lately, the data says it's not just you.

At the very bottom, Witch Evolution and Dart Goblin Evolution are both falling while gaining popularity, an unusual and slightly concerning combination. More players are picking these up right as they're getting weaker, likely a sign the counter-play against them is catching up faster than the cards themselves are adjusting.

Sleeper Picks Worth Trying

A few evolutions are quietly performing well without the usage numbers to match, meaning most of the ladder hasn't caught on yet.

Should You Trust a Card's Win Rate Alone?

Win rate is the best single signal available, but it's not the whole picture. A card's win rate reflects the decks it's typically played in as much as the card itself. An evolution sitting in B or C tier isn't necessarily bad, it might just need a better deck built around it.
